Having extensive expertise and training in human connection and intimacy and years of clinical practice with the GLBT community I work with clients to move beyond the blocks, barriers and pain to a place of growth, harmony and empowerment thereby improving the quality of life, life's experiences and life's relationships.

Swift solutions to life problems are our priority. HAN is an acronym for "here and now", a basic principle of "mindfulness" supporting the work we do. The power of the present moment is extraordinary in stimulating personal growth. We take an eclectic approach to resolve issues of trauma, addiction and attachment difficulty. With compassion, we can make changes in our lives that will bring those we love closer and make us more resilient families and people. Mindfulness therapies develop clarity, emotional intelligence and eventually, compassion for ourselves and others. We learn about real intimacy and welcome it back into our lives. A mindfulness approach to holistic emotional, spiritual, mental health.

I am a licensed clinical Social Worker as well as a qualified supervisor working in Broward County for the past 15 years. I have worked with many different life challenges. I most enjoy working with teenagers and young adults identifying themselves as G,L,B and T. I use a variety of cognitive-behavioral approaches as well as solution focused therapies. The range of my practice include work with adults, children, couples, and groups. My style is to be very open, honest and interactive! I believe that it is the journey that counts and not just the destination. I work with clients to find a way to make their journey feel more satisfying. I offer home based therapy to increase the level of client comfort in their own environment without having to worry about transportation issues to attend sessions. I received my masters degree in Social Work from Barry University in Miami, Florida. I also have extensive experience working with sexual and physical trauma with teens in foster care with a primary focus on LGBTQ.

I approach therapy as an opportunity to work through life’s challenges, and to grow and develop in the process…not just solving problems, but developing greater capacities for living and relating. This applies whether we are working through crisis and loss, depression and anxiety, or just navigating difficult transitions and new stages of life. I work with clients to break free from self-limiting patterns and old beliefs about themselves and their possibilities – to tap into their unique strengths and improve their lives and relationships. My style is interactive and collaborative, drawing upon a range of therapy techniques. My training and inspirations range from social work and traditional supportive therapy to addictions treatment, hypnotherapy, EMDR and Imago relationship therapy.

A native of Puerto Rico, Mary Jean first came to the US in 1970 and attended Barry University in Miami where she received her Bachelors Degree in Science with a concentration in Social Work. After working in the public school system in her hometown of Fajardo, Puerto Rico for 1 year, Mary Jean relocated to New York City pursuing graduate studies and receiving a Masters Degree in Social Work from New York University in 1977. Prior to coming to Florida in 2003, Mary Jean practiced in New York City for 26 years holding clinical, supervisory and managerial positions. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and was very active in advocacy work for the mentally ill and the Hispanic/Latino community while in NYC. She also served on the Board of the Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals for several years as an officer. Mary Jean Garcia joined the group private practice of Dr. Carmine Pecoraro and Associates in the fall of 2006 bringing her cultural competence expertise in treatment to the Hispanic/Latino community. Some of us grew up in a Latin American country and later relocated to the USA. Some of us may have grown up in the USA and are of Latin American ancestry. Either way it is complex to reconcile different values, habits, rituals, attitudes and outlooks on life when we are addressing mental health issues. When pursuing an enhanced quality of life through psychotherapy, a solid understanding of our cultural influences is extremely important. Mary Jean Garcia has extensive training and experience providing culturally competent treatment to the Latino community. Ms. Garcia is also Adjunct Faculty in the Master of Mental Health Counseling Program of Springfield College School of Human Services, Tampa Bay Campus.

As human beings, many of us have the desire to achieve and maintain mental and physical health and well being. I work with the acknowledgement and understanding that the body and mind are not separate, but intertwined components of being. Combining my training and experience as both a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed massage therapist allows me to assist people to work toward this goal in a holistic way. For over 20 years, I have been involved within the GLBT community in a number of ways as an activist and an advocate. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups as both a therapist and an educator. As a psychotherapist, I have worked with people living with HIV and AIDS, with substance abuse, with depression, with stress, with anxiety, and with those people who simply want to experience growth, healing, or discovery in their lives. As a body worker, I assist people with relaxation, stress reduction, and healing of physical injury through massage and subtle energy work. My experience with this exciting combination of healing approaches in working with the body-mind allows me to help those people I work with to discover a more balanced life. Insurance accepted for massage therapy: (Axia) Healthways Wholehealth Network, Summit Health (Medicare), American Specialty Health Network, ACN Group - Great West Healthcare discount, Health Allies discount, Medical Resource, LLC discount, Reserve National discount, United Healthcare discount.

I am a licensed mental health counselor who has been in private practice for 15 years. I am also a certified chemical dependency counselor and certified sex therapist. Most of my work has been done in Chicago, but I am now a Florida resident and continuing the work that brings me a deep sense of fulfillment. My clients are diversified, which I love, and I will work with anyone who commits to the process of learning and growing. My style is relaxed and personable. I am interactive in therapy sessions and believe that a therapeutic alliance between therapist and client is essential. My intention is to create a safe place so that real work can happen. An important piece of my work is being trained and certified as a life/relationship coach. Often a client doesn't need to go back into their pathology and so we work together on what is happening now, where they would like to go, and how they intend to get to their dreams/visions. I love how passionate people become when they see possibility. For me every day is another day of possibility. I like to keep it simple.
