Rap group members work together with SunServe staff to determine the range of topics for the group to discuss. The group determines at least 4 topics and agrees to meet to discuss those topics over at least 4 weekly sessions. The group may invite outside presenters and conversation partners like: PFLAG parents, youth advocates, service providers from various agencies and more.

If a teen expresses or manifests concerns and needs that warrant additional intervention, the staff will work with the teen to:

  • Determine what might be their goals for connection with family/caregivers

  • Gain permission to contact family to communicate teen’s desires

  • Determine a plan for family contacts

  • Set up a counseling relationship to teen and/or families with staff qualified to provide such services
